Burning with urination plus constant urgency and frequency is the classic urinary tract infection pattern. It's uncomfortable, common — especially in women — and genuinely time-sensitive, because the difference between a bladder infection and a kidney infection is largely about how long it went untreated.

Urgent care confirms with a urine test and starts antibiotics the same day for straightforward cases. Drink water steadily, and finish the full antibiotic course even when symptoms vanish in a day — they usually do.

The kidney-infection line

Fever, chills, flank or back pain, nausea, or vomiting layered on UTI symptoms suggest the infection is climbing — that's urgent escalation, and with vomiting or pregnancy involved, an emergency evaluation. Recurrent infections (three-plus a year) deserve a primary-care or urology workup, not another round of episodic treatment.
