School & Sports Physicals

Illinois schools and athletic programs require current physicals, and every July–August the state's clinics fill with families who waited. Urgent care offers same-day, walk-in physicals that satisfy standard school and IHSA sports requirements.

What's included

A standard physical covers history review, vitals, vision screening, heart and lung exam, and the signed state form. Bring your child's vaccination record and the school's specific form if one was provided — Illinois school physicals also require up-to-date immunization documentation, which many clinics can administer on the spot.

Timing strategy

Book or walk in early summer. The two weeks before school starts are the year's busiest window for this service statewide; June visits are dramatically faster than mid-August ones.

What it costs

Physicals are frequently flat-priced below a standard sick visit — commonly $25–$75 at Illinois clinics; call ahead for exact rates. See the full Illinois cost guide.
