Occupational medicine covers the employer side of urgent care: work-related injury treatment, pre-employment and fitness-for-duty physicals, and drug and alcohol screening — with the documentation employers and workers' compensation carriers require.

For injured workers

Work injuries follow a different paper trail than personal ones: the clinic documents mechanism, treatment, and work restrictions for the workers' comp process. Tell the front desk it's work-related at check-in so billing routes correctly from the start.

For employers

Clinics offering occ-med typically provide pre-employment physicals, drug screens, TB testing, and vaccination programs, with volume arrangements for local businesses. It's worth establishing the relationship before an injury forces the choice.
